Going for the 'Lobster' Look...

Well this weekend was a surprise. I don't really tan easily, but I went a stage further and got properly sunburned - in Fort William of all places! Suppose I shouldn't be complaining too much. The last two years I've gone to Nevis Range have been a matter of keeping hypothermia at bay rather than slapping the factor 50 on, so it is a welcome change in some respects.

The photos came out fairly well too; or so I think anyway. I'm currently uploading about 60 of the better ones to my website (which you can access by clicking this [link]) and I'll put them here when it's done too.

Now I can barely wait for the 09 World Cup!

PS. Doubt anyone there will read this page of mine, but I must thank all the people who worked to make that event happen, but in particular to the bloke who gave me, my Dad and two others a lift from the wallride to the entrance of Nevis Range. You only helped us skip past pretty well the hundreds - nay, thousands - of people in the finish area on Sunday!

PPS. Anyone know this lovely lady? ([link]) If you do, I'd appreciate it if you could get her to send me her number... ;)

PPPS. Totally unrelated, but after playing Grand Theft Auto IV I discovered a very good band called Deluka. Their album is absolutely fantastic... but only available in Japan. Well worth importing people!

Another Gig, Another Update

Well, my friend (the lead singer of the band Stolen Order) was pleased with the shots I got at the last gig, so I was invited back to another gig in the same venue. I wasn't going to get paid, but I hadn't been out with my camera in ages, so I thought 'what the hell'...

Musically, it was pretty good actually. Metal and Classic Rock isn't exactly what I'd listen to on a regular basis, but it was an enjoyable evening. If you happen to be in my part of the world and happen to be into this kind of thing, and also happen to have a couple of quid for a ticket, then it's worth stopping by - from what I heard there's going to be a few more gigs like this at the Community Centre in Nairn in the future.

This time round though, the lighting was absolutely dire. They have stage lights - they used them at the first gig - but this time they never bothered, just using the industrial fluorescent lighting. B***ards. I really struggled to get any decent shots to start with, but things started improving as the night went on, so I hope the first band aren't too annoyed at the fairly average shots I got of them...

Anyhoo, Fort William in 3 weeks. I'll update again soonish.

Been a while...

... since I've bothered to update this thing. It's been over a month since I've added anything to this page of mine!

Anyway, I was at a heavy metal gig a few weeks ago to take pictures for a friend of mine - music wasn't exactly my kind of thing, my thighs ached for two days afterwards and I was shouting for four because of the speaker volume, but otherwise a great chance to try something new. Hope you like the pics guys and gals.

Otherwise, it's been really quiet on the photo front. I've been so busy at work that by the time I get a day off I'm too knackered to go out and do anything. There's not much going on either that is going to really drag me out of my nice warm bed to get some shots either.

A bit of a boring month so far. Roll on summer is all I can say...

In love...

... with my Alpha 700! I treated myself to it about a week ago and I am very impressed. I took a few shots earlier today before work - for the first time ever I was taking shots that were (in my opinion anyway) near perfect, and without thinking 'hmm, that could do with a contrast boost when I get home'. It's just fantastic!

Oh, and if you've seen the pictures you'll probably also notice I have a new website up and running. If you're interested, pop on over to [link] and check it out. At the moment there's not too much on there you won't have seen already, but I have plans for it... ;)

So, that's another year very close to ending. Hope everyone doesn't get too drunk tomorrow and lives to tell the tale when 2008 finally begins! Have a good one.

First picture I ever bothered putting into a magazine (well, one of three) and I get featured in their magazine gallery. Talk about being totally stoked!

If any of you in the UK get Singletrack Magazine at all then you may notice my picture of David Fletcher in the gallery of images from the Fort William MTB World Champs. It's the very last pic.

Didn't get anything for it mind you. A slightly amateurish mistake not asking for any money but hey, I'll know next time! :p
